Welcome Letter for Kindergarten Parents
Please read our letter to new parents regarding medications, immunizations and more.
Immunizations
State law requires students in Texas schools to be immunized against certain vaccine-preventable diseases. Getting your child vaccinated not only protects your child’s health, but also that of the community.
Medications on Campus
A reminder, per district policy, students are NOT ALLOWED to carry medications on campus (unless ordered by a physician and cleared with administration). This includes medicated lip balms, creams, ointments, cough drops, and throat lozenges. In addition, students are NOT ALLOWED to transport medication to the clinic. Parents need to bring in ALL medications to the clinic with physician orders.
What We Do
Every NEISD campus has a Registered Nurse (RN) ready to aide your student. Additionally, Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and Clinic Assistants (CAs), supervised by the RN, are at designated campuses. - Hearing and vision screenings for all Kinder, 1st, 3rd, and 5th graders
- Acanthosis Nigricians screening for 1st, 3rd and 5th graders
- Dental screening for 3rd grade
- Scoliosis screenings for 5th grade girls
School nurses are a primary resource in recognizing and managing children´s health problems. School nurses have the professional education and expertise to function successfully in the separate complete systems of education and health care. NEISD school nurses are committed to each child´s individual development and safety.
